The team were approached to design a rear addition to a exisiting home.

Project Brief

Our clients approached us to design a rear addition to an existing home that they wanted to blend with the existing feel and look of the home.

Design Outcome

The property is situated in Speers Point in Lake Macquarie NSW and has some lovely views of the lake to the south and southwest.

Our clients wanted to extend their home for additional space for a growing family without detracting from the original cottage feel that the existing home had.
The floor plan was designed to have two forms, connected with a roof that had a lover ridge than the existing dwelling to give a connected feel but without removing the shape and feel of the existing cottage from the street.

The clients were very happy with the outcome and loved how the new addition to the rear would now provide a lovely family space with views of Lake Macquarie and the distant hills beyond.

The views did face west so care had to be taken to ensure as much shade as possible was designed into the plan to ensure the home would not overheat in the warmer months.
