Blencowe Design emerged from a deep frustration with the declining housing standards in Australia. Craig Blencowe, our managing director, embarked on a mission to align his values and principles with the business, striving to deliver a higher standard of housing for those who understand its significance and to educate others along the way.
Located in the picturesque region of Lake Macquarie, we relish in a family-oriented and laid-back lifestyle. With a strategic position between the Central Coast, Newcastle, Sydney, Port Macquarie, and inland areas, we enjoy convenient access to diverse regions, allowing us to extend our influence on sustainable housing.
Designing for sustainability
Under Craig’s leadership as a certified passive house consultant, our team employs cutting-edge technologies such as the PHPP software to precisely model and optimise the energy performance of all our home designs from durable healthy homes right up to Certified Passive House. From ensuring air tightness and minimising thermal bridging to optimising insulation and incorporating heat recovery ventilation, we meticulously consider every aspect to create comfortable and energy-efficient living spaces that foster the well-being of occupants.
We possess a profound commitment to doing our part in helping to transform the millions of existing homes across Australia that lack proper thermal resistance and suffer from inadequate air quality. Through retrofits and renovations, we endeavor to reduce ongoing energy consumption and enhance the health and comfort of occupants.
Design process
Collaboration lies at the core of our design approach and involves creating a pre-construction team, comprising the necessary consultants such as builders, engineers, landscape designers, and more. This ensures the seamless delivery of projects within budget and a smooth transition from design to completed construction.

About our Managing Director
Craig Blencowe
Craig started his journey as an Engineering and Architectural draftsman and quickly became more involved in full project management. From there, Craig has built on this experience with his passion for sustainability and now has a mission to create better performing homes than the general average building stock.

Craig is committed to using recycled and renewable materials to help lessen the impact the construction industry has on our local and broader environments, along with helping to educate homeowners on the importance of creating homes that require less energy to operate while creating a more comfortable internal environment.
