Bushfire Risk Assessment (BAL)

Bushfire assessment

Development within a bushfire prone area needs to be designed and built to meet additional Australian Standards. The team at Blencowe Design can conduct a bushfire attack level BAL assessment of your property and advise of any additional requirements needed to meet the standards.

There are 6 Bushfire Attack Levels including:

  1. BAL – LOW
Lowest risk from a potential fire

  2. BAL – 12.5
Risk is primarily from potential embers during a fire.

  3. BAL – 19
Moderate risk, particularly from embers and burning debris.

  4. BAL – 29
High risk, particularly from embers, debris and heat

  5. BAL – 40
Very high risk. Likely to be impacted by embers, debris, heat and potentially flames

  6. BAL – FZ Extreme risk.
Directly exposed to the flames of a potential fire front.

The team also work closely with a select few specialised bush fire consultants when a more detailed report is needed for higher risk developments.
